Coloring the Eggs

Oh, the memories, it doesn't seem like that many years that it was my children who were small and coloring eggs. There's nothing like having a family gathering for food, games and fun.

No More Glasses

I had lasik surgery on January 29. Now the only glasses I wear are sunglasses. This is a big change from the last 50 years. I hate having my picture made, you should have seem some of them, looking tipsy was the kindest description. But here I am now, trying to adjust to "mono" vision. I had one eye done near sighted and one eye done far sighted. Each eye sees 20/20 but together my brain hasn't quite figured it out. I didn't see the need of getting surgery and then having to wear glasses to see to read and look at the computer. It has been an adventure and I can't tell you how many times I have tried to take my contacts out or take my glasses off to rest my tired eyes. The age of modern technology we live in is amazing. It is wonderful to wake up in the morning and see what I'm doing and not have to worry if my earrings going to look good with my glasses. It's a whole new world!

NO UNHALLOWED HAND

Yesterday we went to the Draper Temple open house. It's amazing to me the beautiful buildings that the Church creates. The chandelier in the Celestial room literally took my breath away. This Church, which started a mere 179 years ago, has temples all over the world. It amazes me. Only something true could grow and flourish in a world where we are still the most persecuted religion. Satan is scared, he's using all the tactics he can to keep people from wanting to know the glorious "good news" of the gospel. But "No unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing. persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calumny may defame, but the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independent, till it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear, till the purposes of God shall be accomplished and the Great Jehovah shall say the work is done."

Happy Valentine's Day to my Sweetheart. This is our 43rd Valentine's together. And the old quote "you're not getting older, you're getting better" certainly rings true. There's a lot of life lived in that many years. We have had fun times, sad times, hard times, joyful times. We have 8 wonderful children (4 adopted by marriage) and 11 beautiful grandchildren who are the smartest and best looking on the planet. No matter what happens, I can always count on my sweetheart to be there for me. He goes to chick flicks, helps me spend hours on Christmas projects (even though he doesn't always approve), runs errands for me, will go to the store late Saturday night because I have decided I need "one more thing" for my lesson on Sunday. And he does dishes! and vacuums! So I just want to say I LOVE YOU and thanks for being my best friend forever!
